Cents of Pride is a positive behavior program which provides tools for success to under resourced students. The program consists of stores located at elementary schools with Free & Reduced lunch rates of 60% or more. Students attending a school with a Pride Store, earn “pride bucks” for good behavior and attendance. Once per month, they visit the store, where they are able to purchase a variety or “need” items such as hygiene, food, shoes and clothing. Additonally, stores stock a variety of want items, which students are also free to purchase. While many of the items purchased are helpful in fulfilling their immediate needs, students are learning lifeling lessons ranging from positive outcomes to financial literacy.
