Skills Requested: Calm demeanor, ability to support individuals in crisis, ability to show compassion without judgement, ability to believe victims of crime, ability to listen and allow victims to share their story without asking questions or probing.Requirements & Commitment: 21 years of age, completed application, interview, reference and criminal background check. Volunteers sign up for 2-4 call shifts a month.Support The Victim Center’s 24-hour crisis response line for victims of violent and sexual crime. The primary role of a volunteer victim advocate is to listen, validate, and support the victim through crisis intervention by phone.
