Crisis Cold Weather Shelters are open November 1st through March 31st on nights when temperatures are 32 degrees or lower. Our shelters save lives and would be impossible without our 400+ community volunteers. Volunteers are critically needed for a variety of roles with Crisis Cold Weather Shelter sites; not only staying at shelters overnight, but also helping to serve meals, deliver supplies, and transport pets. All volunteers will go through a site-specific training and shelter coordinators are always available via phone to answer questions. Overnight volunteers are needed from approximately 7:30 p.m. – 7:30 a.m., are always paired with another volunteer, and can sleep for part of the night. Most overnight volunteers work 1-2 shifts per month.

Requirements & Commitment: To be a volunteer with the Ozark Action, Inc Head Start/Early Head Start Program are required to complete and pass background screenings. Please contact your local HS/EHS for further information on requirements.Head Start programs welcome volunteers! You can help in the classroom and on field trips, assist in center maintenance or yardwork, to just name a few ways to volunteer.
