Ambassadors for Children provides new clothing and self-esteem items for children and teens in foster care.
At present, there are over 1,000 children in foster care in Greene, Christian, and Taney Counties and local child abuse rates continue to be higher in comparison with the rest of the state. Many children enter foster care having been abused or neglected with little to no clothing or personal belongings, and carrying significant emotional burdens. A service of the Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Ambassadors for Children unites our community to care for these children and make a significant local impact through a variety of programs with new clothing, comfort bags, blankets, free tutoring, beds, self-esteem boosting activities, and more. Each of our programs is designed to meet practical needs while also instilling a sense of value and dignity which brings hope to children and families. Ambassadors for Children’s programs are provided absolutely free to families. When a child receives our services and support, the message is clear: “You are valuable, you are special, and someone cares.”
