Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC) is a non-profit agency that works to alleviate the causes and conditions of poverty in the 10 counties we serve; Barry, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Greene, Lawrence, Polk, Stone, Taney, and Webster. As part of a nationwide network of Community Action Agencies, OACAC offers innovative services to move the needle on poverty. From developing programs for families to initiating community projects, OACAC is committed to making the Ozarks a better place to live and work for all residents.
OACAC services include:
Housing Assistance Program: safe, decent, affordable housing
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): assistance to those who have an energy related crisis
Family Planning: affordable, confidential preventive reproductive health care
Foster Grandparent Program: seniors providing one-on-one support and mentorship to children
Weatherization: energy efficiency services for homeowners and renters
Head Start/Early Head Start: school readiness for children and families
Neighborhood Centers: services meeting the needs of individuals, families, and communitiesWe also have a variety of community projects that are always welcoming new volunteers; Vocational Opportunities Inspiring Children in Elementary (VOICE), Reality Enrichment And Life Lessons (REALL), Gifted Objectives Accelerating Learning (GOAL), and the Poverty Simulation.
